History of
the Children's Home
In January of 1995 Lifeline Christian Mission acquired the
former Cookson Hills Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, along
with the churches, schools and other ministries formerly under
the ministry of Cookson Hills. When Lifeline Christian Mission
assumed responsibility for the orphanage the children and young
adults ranged in age from 5 to 28 years of age. The children’s
home had approximately 65 residents many of those were orphans
and some were from families that had abandoned them, or were
economically unable to provide for their physical needs.
Upon assuming leadership of the orphanage, Lifeline began
encouraging the older young adults with help to go out on their
own seeking jobs, furthering their education, and etc. Many are
emerging as strong Christian leaders in the home, the church,
their school, and surrounding community. Several are employed
by the mission as school teachers, clinic workers and other
workers. Many know or are learning English and help the mission
in translating when Americans come to visit! The children
living at the home, are fed, clothed, educated, cared for
medically, and nurtured as they grow physically and
spiritually. Many have accepted Christ and been baptized.
Lifeline began to develop some exciting plans for the children
and the home which was renamed the “Lovelink Children’s Home”.
Lifeline began a major
renovation of the children's home in 2000 with redecorated
living quarters and new bathroom facilities. Plans were
also laid for the construction of a new dining facility called
Bethlehem or "House of Bread". This dining facility was to
include a modern kitchen, bright spacious eating area and a
separate lounge area for the children to use as a meeting /
recreation area.
2001 brought unique
challenges to Lifeline as a former Cookson Hills employee and
self-proclaimed pastor, stormed the the children's home and
illegally took possession of the facilities, including the
children's home, the church and adjacent school.. Our
children were forced to leave with just the clothing on their
backs. Over the next several months the home was
completely stripped of all furnishing and anything of value.
Although
Lifeline was able to eventually able to regain control of all of
the facilities through the courts in April of 2001.
Expenditures reached between $30,000.00 - $40,000.00 to
temporally house the children in rented quarters, rent space for
the school and refurnish the children's home. Praise the
Lord - God's people were faithful in helping and the home,
school, and church are stronger then ever.
The dining
facility was finally completed and dedicated in 2002. This
new facility has allowed us to completely renovate the old
kitchen and dining facilities located within the main structure
into a nursery which will allow us to ministry to small babies.

In August
of 2002 an additional 21 new little ones came to live at the
Lovelink Children's Home. Under the directorship of Everne
and Martine Auxilas, the Haitian directors of the home, precious
lives are undergoing a physical, mental, and spiritual
transformation.
Due to poverty, health problems, malnutrition and
severe economic distress thousands of children die each month in
Haiti. Lifeline can impact the lives of many more precious
children as God provides the resources. Individuals, classes,
youth groups, etc. are needed to sponsor children in the home.
For $30.00 per month a child can be sponsored at the home.
Sponsors can
correspond and send gifts to their child too! For
