**Important Message for
Child Sponsors in Haiti**
-
So far we have only learned of 2 children from our schools
being killed and only 1 was sponsored.
Her sponsor was here during the earthquake and had just seen
this precious child earlier in the day. The day after the
quake her mother was among the many refugees who came here
to Lifeline's campus to seek shelter from the falling
buildings.
-
Secondly, we
are writing to inform you that
we are temporarily
asking you to suspend sending gift packages
to our office for
your sponsored children in Haiti.
Right now there is no way to get anything in through the
damaged port at Port au Prince. It will be some time before
things normalize to the point of being able to ship anything
here besides relief food and goods. So for now, please do
not send packages.
-
We are urging you to send money for your sponsored child's
family.
The money will be distributed in February so that the
families can get help that they need.
-
This restriction on gifts does NOT apply to Honduran
children sponsored.
You may continue to do as you always have.
Again, please send money
but not gifts for Haitian children until further notice.
We will keep you posted on when we can lift the restriction on
packages.
Also, we had only distributed some of the Christmas gifts when
the quake hit; those remaining gifts will be distributed in a
month or so. Your child will eventually get the gifts that are
here and you will get photos of them receiving them.
We love you and thank you for your understanding and patience!
God bless you,
Gretchen DeVoe
Director of Lovelink Children's Ministries
Please note: sending
cash gifts is optional and not required in the sponsorship
program.
