Dear Friends:
My name is Marilyn, and every Friday for eight years I have answered the phones and greeted visitors at the front desk at the Lifeline Christian Mission office in Westerville. I couldn’t have a better one day a week job. As many of you know who have been to the office, all the staff is very friendly and accommodating. When available, Bob and Gretchen are always willing to visit a few minutes with any one of you who drops by.
During a quiet moment as I sit here at the front desk, my mind wanders down memory lane to a time when my parents would drive my sister and me past this little house on the way to our grandparent’s farm on Sunbury Road. That was in the late 1930’s and, this little house that Lifeline is now in, was a farm home then with a barn and outbuildings directly east of it.
I don’t know who lived here then, but would be willing to bet that the farm family’s hearts would swell with thankfulness at what has become of their little home. Now it’s the hub, with DeVoes at the center of the far reaching Lifeline mission work in Haiti, Honduras and spreading to El Salvador and Cuba. The planning and execution of all the mission trips start here. The quarterly gifts for the thousands of Lovelink and Orphanage children all come through here, plus the ongoing peanut butter drive, golf outings and work trips.
Together, all the dedicated staff, the faithful volunteers somehow make this all come together. I say “somehow” but we all know and acknowledge that it is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who brings it all together and we give Him all the glory and honor for what He has done and is doing through His faithful servants.
Thank you for your continued support with your finances, your volunteer work, your time, talents and your prayers. Lifeline couldn’t do it without you.
God bless you,
Marilyn Mead, Receptionist
