Ministry Updates: August 2018

Because you gave your time, prayers, and/or donations, Christ's love is being expressed around the world!

Arizona UpdateArizona

In a recent blog post, Brian Snyder, Arizona Mission Director shares:

“I wish I could say that we started school in the new building, but we have not. We did start school, but we are having to use First Baptist of Winslow for the facility while the school continues under renovations. HUGE thank you to FBC of Winslow! What a blessing for them to come through for us. Classes began on Monday, August 20.

There have been so many delays with getting items ordered, submitting permits, getting the drawings much later than promised and ordering/shipping delays. Simple things that we thought would be naturally taken care of are still missing and not complete. To say that this hasn't been frustrating on every level would be misleading. Losing students to the delay not only causes heartache, but also equates to thousands of dollars lost for this school year. So this delay in construction has caused a huge financial loss to the school as well.

We know that God is still in charge of this and only He knows how this delay will ultimately bring His plan together! We know that without God, this crazy dream would not even been able to come together the way it has. I am reminded of a quote by Mark Batterson, 'Most God-ordained dreams die because we are not willing to do something that seems illogical.' Well, call us illogical, because we truly are jumping head first into crazy and we NEED God every step of the way.

To date we have had approximately 170 volunteers giving over 5,100 volunteer hours towards this building. Praise God for so much help! Not to mention the prayer hours, financial sacrifices from so many to be here, and to support the project. God is so good and His children have really stepped up to help! Thank you!”

If you are interested in helping, Red Sands Christian School is in need of 50 black chairs from Sam's Club (chair name: Lifetime Commercial Grade Contoured Folding Chair). Email Barb (barb.snyder@lifeline.org) to see how many more they still need. You can ship them to: Red Sands Christian School, 502 Airport Road, Winslow AZ 86047. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Guatemala Update
Guatemala

“Recently, we did an activity in a rural public school in San Jose Pinula. It was a place that was very difficult to reach because the people there are very suspicious of Christianity. But thank God that He allowed us to reach this place! We did an activity in the school with the mothers present. We did crafts, preached the Word of God, and played with the children. We also brought cakes, piñatas, and most importantly Bibles. We gave each mother a Bible. God has been very good and we are more than grateful to Him for what he allowed us to do. We ask for your prayers since we want to continue carrying the Word of God to these places where it is a bit difficult. Prayers please.” - Joselyn, Sponsorship Coordinator in Guatemala

Haiti UpdateHaiti

Seven students, ages 17-18, have applied and qualified for Haiti Vocational and Technical School! They will begin in October and will earn a certificate in a trade/skill while continuing their high school education. This education will be life transforming.

The expense for this is above and beyond what monthly sponsorship supports. So, you can step in to help! Prayerfully consider how you feel led to give and then donate before September 15. Donate here

Honduras UpdateHonduras

Recently, our schools in Honduras celebrated national Indian day which honors heroes who fought valiantly during the Spanish colonization. Every class participated in decorating the school in the theme. The students honored the culture and history through presentations and skits.
