Ministry Updates: July 2018

Because you gave your time, prayers, and/or donations, Christ's love is being expressed around the world!

Ecuador July Update
Ecuador

One year ago, the school of Rey Sabio Salomón in Ecuador began a project called Love Waiting. The goal was to guide adolescents and young people to the knowledge of their sexuality based on values related to the emotions of the stage of falling in love and how the Bible addresses this. In view of the fact that there is a large percentage of teenage mothers and fathers in the culture, this was a big concern the school wanted to address. Christian education here helps the students recognize the importance of waiting in God for the right person to share the rest of their lives with.

Guatemala July UpdateGuatemala

Recently, a mission team along with the local leadership were evangelizing and preaching in a new place called Las Anonas. They visited families in their homes and held an afternoon gathering with some families of the community. Together, they shared the love and hope of salvation. The seed of the kingdom fell on good soil and we ask for your prayers so we can harvest more souls for Christ.

Haiti July UpdateHaiti

Learning continues through the summer at Lifeline’s school in Grand-Goâve! 120 students who have just completed 1st and 3rd grades are spending 5 weeks in a summer reading program to strengthen their reading skills before school resumes in September. With a small teacher-student ratio and a very interactive approach, the children are receiving wonderful reading instruction in an encouraging and motivating environment.

Director Etzer says, “During the summer season, Haitian students hardly read, which leads to the loss of reading skills that are essential to student success. Studies have shown that children who do not read during the summer lose the equivalent of two to three months of their learning. This program positively influences their taste for reading, helps maintain and perfect their skills, and promotes their comprehension strategies.”

Pray for the skilled and enthusiastic teacher leading this program and for the students, as they practice reading in Haitian Creole and in French! When school resumes in September, they will be ready to take on the challenges of their new grade level with greater confidence!

The summer reading program is an extra benefit that these students receive due to the generosity of many donors. On behalf of the children, thank you for giving them an extra boost going into the new school year!

Honduras July UpdateHonduras

We celebrated our fourth annual student camp this summer. There were 135 students who participated from our Gonzales and Ocotillo Christian schools. The main theme was on purity, according to 1 Timothy 4:12. Students participated by listening to bible lessons, playing games, making crafts, and building relationships with others.

The most incredible fruit from this camp was that seven students from Lifeline schools were baptized at the camp! Praise the Lord! Please pray for the students who were baptized during camp: Gabriela, Henry, Ramon, David, Angel, Astrid and Ebert.

This summer camp is an extra benefit that these students receive due to generous donors giving towards Lifeline's ministry. On behalf of the students, thank you for pouring into their spiritual growth!
