The time is now...

As I write this, I'm reflecting on the many wonderful highlights of my recent trip to Honduras.

I was blessed to work with an amazing group of women who took incredible initiative, loved on the people with all their hearts, and prayed extravagantly for those we came in contact with.

During this trip, God showed up and blew us away with His sovereignty.  The story of the fishes and loaves came to life for us as we planned for 40 children at Vacation Bible School in Tegucigalpa and 90 showed up.  We did not have enough supplies, but somehow each child was blessed with something that day.  Just like the boy with the fish, our supplies multiplied in ways we couldn't fathom and we had front row seats to God's provision!  Our faith grew that day!

Pastor Eduardo

We were also empowered by the faith of Pastor Eduardo at Living Hope Christian Church. His powerful testimony is a story of complete transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit, which completely humbled our team and caused us to reflect:

How boldly do we pray for those we know who are far from God?

This message truly resonated in my heart as we spent time with the children, but especially with my sponsor girls, Angie and Josselyn.

My family has had the privilege of sponsoring Angie for 14 years and Josselyn for two years.  They are sisters and growing up beautifully before our eyes.  As I spent time with them, I felt the Holy Spirit nudge me saying, "The time is now!"  And so, through my tears, I shared my heart with the girls, as well as my testimony and Jesus' plan of salvation.  The girls listened and we talked through some of their questions.

Even though I'm not there often, I want them to know that this is the most important message I can share with them and would love nothing more than to share eternity in Heaven with them.

I am praying for this and will continue to pray as they are both at such an impressionable age where the streets, gangs and the world can swallow young people in the blink of an eye.  Our time together was so meaningful and fulfilling as the love that we shared for each other filled our hearts.  Tight hugs were given and our "see ya later's" were said until next time.  But the images of our time together will remain closely embedded in my memory.

You may not experience similar encounters and that's okay; everyone is different.  Interactions with sponsored children is different for everyone.

But I'd love to challenge you, sponsors: if you visit your child in field, not only get to know your child and their family, but share the love that Christ has put in your heart with them.

The time is now...that feeling of urgency like we may not have tomorrow...share the most important message in the world with your child, young or old.

And then pray...pray for God to be present in their lives so much so that they cannot deny Him.

God will give you the courage and the words to speak into their lives at just the right moment and you will find blessing in your obedience to the Father!

I know one thing for certain...I'm thankful for each of you who take part in this amazing ministry of sponsorship!  I have witnessed the fruit of your partnership with my own eyes and am humbled each time I go.  Thank you!
