Tirelessly serving & loving families in Honduras

The team from Okolona Christian Church (Kentucky) is a huge blessing to the Honduran people, not just through physical blessings that are provided each year, but their attitude and actions continually give glory to the Lord.  They lavish the children, families, and leaders with love and encouragement, while tirelessly serving.  Within the first six days of their arrival, the team set up mobile clinics, including eye and dental clinics, at five separate locations and served nearly 900 patients!  



Cheryl Leathers, who was part of the Okolona team, shared:

It’s hard to believe that Okolona Christian Church has now been called to serve alongside the Hondurans for the fifth year in a row! Time has gone by quickly; new relationships have grown strong, as they are bonded by love and Jesus. It is impossible to express the feelings that we have for our dear friends in Honduras.



Over the past five years we have not only worked alongside of Dr. Johanna and her staff, but partnered with Dr. Loida in dentistry and served the Hondurans by offering an eyeglass clinic during. We’ve also taken mobile clinics to serve communities throughout Honduras. This year was no exception as the Okolona and Honduran team of medical personnel, staff and translators packed medications, supplies and equipment to travel many miles to where God called: Choloma, Santa Cruz, Corfradia, Omoa and Gonzales. We were greeted by the pastors and their families with open, loving hearts. Our clinic areas, whether in an open area, church or a school, were prepared and ready to welcome patients.  As the teams together served those in the community, physical needs were met all the while sharing the love of Christ.



As mentioned previously, there is no way to express in a few words the impact that we have all experienced in opening our hearts to God’s call to care for those in Honduras.



My challenge for you: if God has been prompting your heart to “go” and serve in Honduras, then step out in faith to answer. You do not need to know all there is to know about serving, you just need to have a willing heart. As you choose to obey God will lead you on an adventure far beyond what you could have ever imagined!
