Arizona Update
Arizona

In a recent blog post, Brian Snyder, Arizona Mission Director shares:

“I wish I could say that we started school in the new building, but we have not. We did start school, but we are having to use First Baptist of Winslow for the facility while the school continues under renovations. HUGE thank you to FBC of Winslow! What a blessing for them to come through for us. Classes began on Monday, August 20.

There have been so many delays with getting items ordered, submitting permits, getting the drawings much later than promised and ordering/shipping delays. Simple things that we thought would be naturally taken care of are still missing and not complete. To say that this hasn't been frustrating on every level would be misleading. Losing students to the delay not only causes heartache, but also equates to thousands of dollars lost for this school year. So this delay in construction has caused a huge financial loss to the school as well.

We know that God is still in charge of this and only He knows how this delay will ultimately bring His plan together! We know that without God, this crazy dream would not even been able to come together the way it has. I am reminded of a quote by Mark Batterson, 'Most God-ordained dreams die because we are not willing to do something that seems illogical.' Well, call us illogical, because we truly are jumping head first into crazy and we NEED God every step of the way.

To date we have had approximately 170 volunteers giving over 5,100 volunteer hours towards this building. Praise God for so much help! Not to mention the prayer hours, financial sacrifices from so many to be here, and to support the project. God is so good and His children have really stepped up to help! Thank you!”

You can help finish the building for the students. Donate today!

Canada update

Canada

Tri-Village Christian Church (Pataskala, Ohio) brought their youth up to work with Northern Hills Church in Calgary this summer. The area is full of thousands of unchurched families, and Northern Hills Church has been trying to find new ways to connect and build relationships with these families. In the pre-trip planning, both Northern Hills Church and Tri-Village Christian Church saw the value of putting on an affordable soccer camp for kids in the community.

After planning and preparing together, the Tri-Village team arrived in Calgary in July. They participated in the Sunday worship service, hosted a soccer camp, participated in service projects in the community, and spent time with members of the church. The camp was a huge success for the church, allowing Northern Hills Church to connect on a much deeper level with 45 community kids and their families. The team did an amazing job and the kids had a great time.

There is a strong desire in the community to do the soccer camp again next year. It also set the table for future student events that Northern Hills Church can do in hopes of furthering those relationships, and sharing the Gospel of Jesus with these families.

Overall the week was filled with many great memories and laughs, and was capped by a trip out to the beautiful mountains of the Canadian Rockies, including Lake Louise and Banff.

 El Salvador Update

El Salvador

This summer, a group went to El Salvador for a Lifeline mission trip and to help host a Kid’s Camp. The team really enjoyed putting on a drama to help teach the kids more about God and His love. In addition, there was a richness about the team because it had a blending of multiple cultures – American, Jamaican, Salvadorean, and Honduran. One of the participants on the team noted that the blend in cultures, “was a beautiful and amazing thing to see, and probably the way that God wants us to be more often.”

Haiti Update

Haiti

It is with great joy, prayer, hope and love our Children's Home family said goodbye to 5 of our students, now young adults, ready to take on the world.  With schooling and vocational training accomplished, August 20 was a day of celebration and memories. It was also an emotional day, as good-byes are never easy. In our hearts, we know it was not a true "goodbye" but rather a "see you later!" because we will be seeing them monthly when they return to visit their Children's Home family and staff.

As part of their send-off, each child received a bed and mattress, bed sheets, a suitcase, a charcoal cook stove called a "réchaud," a month supply of food, and the first installment of a monthly stipend.

The ceremony was full of testimonies, a beautiful dance performance, celebration, and prayer.

We look forward to learning about the Lord's plans for these 5 wonderful young adults as they settle into their new lives. Join us in thanking the Lord for the Children's Home which provided for their care when their families could not, and also in praying for them to continue to seek Jesus and His ways in all that they do and in all that their hearts pursue.

HO Update

Honduras

Praise God that 10 more people were baptized at several Lifeline ministry locations in Honduras. Carlos, Lifeline’s Honduras Mission Director said, “God is adding more children to His Kingdom. The purpose of why Lifeline exists in Honduras is Jesus. Enjoy with us and pray for these new souls surrendered to Jesus Christ.”

Our local leaders and pastors serving in our communities are hungry...hungry to share God's Word and hungry to reach their communities for Christ. Partner with them here!
