How has God shown up in your class?4th grade class at Deuxieme-Plaine
[Marianne Louis] God has shown up in my class through the ways my students behave themselves in class and in school. They have passion to hear the word of God and to share with other students. They take part in all we do in class and have respect for each other.

[Sololien] God has shown up in my class through the reaction of my students and the passion they have to serve the Lord. Devotion has played a crucial role in their lives and I am happy that they have the opportunity in our school to learn more about God. Since we started this initiative, they have become friendlier and respect other students.

What are some notable updates or activities that your class has been a part of? (i.e. holidays, celebrations, traditions)
Christmas, Flag Day and recreation days.  But, due to the pandemic, we were unable to participate in the activities we usually do, but this year we hope to get back to our routine.

Why are these occasions important to your culture?
[Marianne Louis] We celebrate Christmas with them to remind us of God's love for all his children by sending his only son to die for our sins. We usually have a party that they participate in by singing, playing games and dancing. Flag Day is the symbol of freedom and we celebrate it every 18th of May with the whole school. We do coloring, make little flags, and participate in parades in our city.

[Sololien] Two main celebrations we always participate in are Flag Day and Christmas. Flag Day is usually every May 18th and there are lots of activities we organize to commemorate this day.  We participate in the parade through the city and sing our national anthem. For Christmas we like to take the opportunity with our students to sing new songs and recite poems. All this takes place before the Christmas holidays.

What is your favorite memory from this year so far? Something that made you laugh? Cry? Praise God?
[Marianne Louis] One of my students was happy to give some of his notebooks to a student who didn't have many. I was amazed at how much they care about others and live as brothers and sisters.

[Sololien] My favorite memory for this year is that one of my students decided to give his life to Christ and asked me to pray for him. I was blessed to see him accept Christ.

What are some activities or events that you and your class are looking forward to?
Flag Day, recreation days, playing soccer with other classes, and going out to visit a nearby town.

4th grade class at Deuxieme-PlaineIs there a Bible verse that your class has been studying? Or maybe a verse that God has put on your heart during this season?
[Marianne Louis] Isaiah 10:5. We love to learn and study the word of God together.
[Sololien] I have been studying in the book of Jeremiah with my students.

Is there a student or parent that has stood out to you? How and why?
[Sololien] I had a parent who came to say thank you because his child was behaving badly at home, but since he started going to school, his habits gradually changed and that made his mother happy.

What would you like to say to partners who are supporting the class and students?
[Marianne Louis] I am fortunate that you are supporting my class and my students. May God bless you for the joy and encouragement you will bring into their lives. My students and I will pray that you stay healthy and that God continues to use you in His work.

[Sololien] Thank you very much for your wonderful support to my class. Thank you for giving them the opportunity to be in a good school and to learn the word of God. May God in his love continue to bless you and keep you safe. May the peace of the Lord be with you and your family.

Prayer Requests

Marianne Louis:
  • I would like you to pray for my class so that God will keep me healthy, so that I can continue to do my job of teaching these wonderful students for their society and to become good Christians.
  • I want you to pray that my students will be motivated in their schooling and blessed by God with good understanding.
Sololien:
  • When we pray, nothing in this world has the power to stand before us, which is why I ask you to pray for me and my students.
  • I would like you to pray for our health and for the Spirit of God to be with us.
  • I would also like to pray that my students will focus more on their schooling so that they can get good grades in class.
