Growing and Learning Together!

Teacher: Magalie
Class: Preschool 1

Region: Deuxième-Plaine

Student in preschool 1 at Deuxieme-PlaineHow has God shown up in your class?
God has shown up in class in the way my students behave and cooperate in class. Even though they are new and don't really know each other, their friendship between them is strong.

What are some notable updates or activities that your class has been a part of? (i.e. holidays, celebrations, traditions)
Flag Day, Recreation Day, and Christmas.

What was the occasion and why is it important to your culture?
Flag Day is an important event for us as we celebrate our freedom as a nation. We do coloring and crafts making little flags in the classroom. Haitians have been celebrating this event since May 18, 1803! We organize Recreation Days with them on special occasions in order to put them in an atmosphere to have fun, play games and get acquainted with other students. We celebrate Christmas at school by singing new songs, learning new poems and sometimes giving them a snack.

What is your favorite memory from this year so far? Something that made you laugh? Cry? Praise God?
My favorite memory so far is that I taught them a song (THE B-I-B-L-E), and when school was over they were singing it on their way home. It made me happy because they have the desire to learn!

What are some activities or events that you and your class are looking forward to?
Flag Day, Recreation Days, and learning colors.

Is there a Bible verse that your class has been studying? Or maybe a verse that God has put on your heart during this season?
We are studying the book of Genesis. They have myths about who created the earth and the sky, so by reading the word of God with them, they will understand better.

Is there a student or parent that has stood out to you? How and why?
Some of them cried during the first week of school and asked to go home, but now they get along well with us.

What would you like to say to partners who are supporting the class and students?
Please open your hearts to support these little students. May God in His endless love bless you and keep you healthy. We will be praying for you and your family.

Prayer Requests:

  • You can pray for my class so that God can protect us and keep us healthy.
  • We also want God to bless our students with good understanding so that they can progress in their schooling.
  • It's their first year of school and we know they might miss their home and family, so we want you to pray that they feel comfortable in the class.
