Growing and Learning Together!

Teachers: Jimmy, Erick, Jean Paul
Class: Third Grade
Region: Grand-Goâve
How has God shown up in your class?
Jimmy: God has shown up in my classroom through the way my students behave in class. I have seen that they focus more on Christian songs that we taught them rather than on worldly songs. They like to pray when we do devotion and their friendship grows among them.
Erick: Through the devotion we have each morning with them I have seen the presence of God. They love to ask questions on things they don’t understand in the Bible lessons and they are motivated to learn more about God.
Jean Paul: Through the devotions we do in class, I have seen great changes in their lives. They become friendly to each other and show respect to everyone. I have seen that they like Christian songs more than other songs they hear in their neighborhoods. This is how I see the presence of the Lord in my class.
What are some notable updates or activities that your class has been a part of? (i.e. holidays, celebrations, traditions)
Flag Day and Christmas.
What was the occasion and why is it important to your culture?
Flag Day is celebrated on May 18. It is an important event for us because it represents our freedom. We usually sing the national anthem, and make little flags to wave while participating in the parade that we usually have in our town.
A Christmas party is always organized before sending them home for their holidays. We do coloring, learn new Christmas carols and poems. I [Erick] usually let them bring cookies, toys, crayons, and a notebook to share with their classmates once a year to let them know that they should share with those who don’t have; and they love doing so!
What is your favorite memory from this year so far? Something that made you laugh? Cry? Praise God?
Jimmy: My students told me they wanted to read the verse we were learning that day and it made me happy to see the passion they have for the word of God.
Erick: I was happy to see them on the first day of school in January and what made me happy is that they hugged each other and wished everyone a Happy New Year of 2021.
Jean Paul: One day when my students were taking their break and I was about to have a snack, my students reminded me to wash my hands before eating. It made me happy because they learned how to protect themselves from COVID-19.
What are some activities or events that you and your class are looking forward to?
Flag Day, Christmas , playing soccer with other classes, and making crafts
Is there a Bible verse that your class has been studying? Or maybe a verse that God has put on your heart during this season?
Jimmy: We have been studying many verses and look forward to learning more in class. When we teach them the word of God, it helps them by becoming good students and keeps them on a path to keep the commandments of God. We are currently studying 2 Kings.
Erick: We are studying John 3:16. It is our favorite verse and the students like to give their opinion on this verse.
Jean Paul: We are studying Romans 12:13. This is a good verse because it shows us how to care for others even if they are not our friends.
What would you like to say to partners who are supporting the class and students?
Thank you for your wonderful support of our students. We really like the Together program and pray that God will bless you for taking part in it to better present His love and support to our classes. Our students look forward to praying for you and your families. Your support means a lot to us and that will help our students make more efforts in their schooling. May God bless you and keep you safe from harm.
