Growing and Learning Together!

Teachers: Carte, Erda, Guy EdouardPhoto of 4th grade girl at the chalkboard in a Grand Goave Classroom.
Class: Fourth Grade
Region: Grand-Goâve

How has God shown up in your class?

Carte: God has shown up in my class in amazing ways, like when we do devotion each morning. It helps my students to have a better understanding of who God is and how to respect the principles God set for us to become His children.

Erda: The presence of God has shown up in my class because all the students are healthy and do no harm in class. They love to learn more about God and sing Christian songs. This is how I see that the presence of the Lord continues to shine in my classroom.

Guy Edouard: God has shown up in my class through the Bible study that I do with my students. They are kind and respect each other. They love to ask questions that are based on what we have studied in the Bible. They also like to sing Christian songs.

What are some notable updates or activities that your class has been a part of? (i.e. holidays, celebrations, traditions)

Flag Day and Christmas.

What was the occasion and why is it important to your culture?

Flag Day is celebrated on May 18. It is an important event for us because it represents our freedom. We usually sing the national anthem, and make little flags to wave while participating in the parade that we usually have in our town.

A Christmas party is always organized before sending them home for their holidays. It helps us remember the love that God has for humanity. We do coloring and learn new Christmas carols and poems.

What is your favorite memory from this year so far? Something that made you laugh? Cry? Praise God?

Carte: God has kept all of us safe from COVID-19 and I was happy to see all of them on the first of school this year. They were happy and enjoyed singing Christian songs in class.

It pleased me to see that some of them are motivated to learn more about the word of God. I told him it is a good idea; we should try to do this in class!

Guy Edouard: It was my birthday and some students in my class surprised me with a gift and sang a happy birthday to me. I was impressed by their kindness and how much they appreciate that I am their teacher.

What are some activities or events that you and your class are looking forward to?

We are looking forward to participating in Flag Day, Christmas and other activities the school staff might do.

Is there a Bible verse that your class has been studying? Or maybe a verse that God has put on your heart during this season?

Carte: We have been studying John 3:16 in class and we look forward to learning more verses during the school year with our students.

Erda: We have studied the book of Genesis. We chose this book because the students asked a lot of questions about the land and the animals. I have one who asked me why among all the animals the serpent was the one who tempted Eve? I suggested that it would be best if we start studying this book together.

Guy Edouard: We are studying Genesis 1:31. We are talking about the creation of the earth. We are delighted to learn more verses together during the year.

What would you like to say to partners who are supporting the class and students?

The students appreciate everything you do. God will reward you for your generosity to us. We are grateful to you. We look forward to praying for you every school day. We pray that God will continue to bless you and keep you in good health. Thank you for giving your support to a good cause. May God in His endless love pour His blessing on each one of you. Our students look forward to meeting you in the future!
