How has God shown up in your class?4th Grade student at Leogane
[Lando] God has shown in my classroom through the changes He has made in the lives of my students. They are friendlier and behave well in class. I also see that they have a great passion for the word of God.  During breaks, they like to discuss among themselves the things that we say in devotion.

[Gerealdy] God has shown in my class through the devotions we have each morning that have transformed our students to be more polite and respect others. In my class their friendship grows stronger and they love to talk about what we have said in the devotions.

What are some notable updates or activities that your class has been a part of? (i.e. holidays, celebrations, traditions)
[Lando] Flag Day, Labor and Agriculture Day, and Recreation Day.

[Gerealdy] We participate in Flag Day, Christmas, Recreation Day, and the Class Championship.

What was the occasion and why is it important to your culture?
[Lando] We celebrate Flag Day every May 18th in our country. We do coloring and crafts with our students in class; they come to school in red and blue. It means a lot to us because the flag represents our pride and joy as a nation. Labor and Agriculture Day (May 1) plays a big role in our society when many sectors organize conferences to celebrate this day. In our school we sing songs and we also take the time to encourage our students to participate and support their community.

[Gerealdy] We celebrate Flag Day every May 18th; the flag is important to us because it is the symbol of our freedom. For Christmas break, we always have a party for them to celebrate the birth of Christ, singing songs, dances and playing games. Recreation Day usually takes place on special occasions, where students can express themselves and say what they like and dislike about school and their surroundings. The Class Championship is organized by the school administration and the students really like to participate.

What is your favorite memory from this year so far? Something that made you laugh? Cry? Praise God?
[Lando] I was surprised by one of my students who came to say thank you for all the patience I had with her because she was struggling with her math problems. She made me happy and gave me hope that I am doing my job well.

[Gerealdy] I have a student who came to me and said thank you for my patience with him and he really loves the way I teach. This made my heart happy and has more determination to continue teaching them.

What are some activities or events that you and your class are looking forward to?
[Lando] Flag Day, Recreation Day, vocabulary contests, learning new songs, and playing soccer with other classes.

[Gerealdy] Flag Day, Class Championship, and taking a class trip to the beach.

4th grade class at LeoganeIs there a Bible verse that your class has been studying? Or maybe a verse that God has put on your heart during this season?
[Lando] I always study a verse every week in class with my students. This week we are studying Isaiah 40 verse 28.

[Gerealdy] We are studying John 3:16.

What would you like to say to partners who are supporting the class and students?
[Lando] We want to use this opportunity to say thank you for opening your hearts to help these students and to bring joy to their hearts. May God continue to pour His blessing on you and keep you healthy. We are praying for you and we want you to know that we are looking forward in the future to meet you all.

[Gerealdy] Thank you for supporting my class. My students will be blessed by you and we pray that God will continue to provide for you so that you can continue with this initiative. We look forward to praying for you every school day. The peace of God be with you.

Prayer Requests:

Lando:

  • I would like you to pray for me that God will keep me healthy and give me courage, love, patience and tolerance to do my job better.
  • I also want you to pray that my students will focus more on their education and be healthy so that they can learn well.
  • Last year has been difficult for us, we would like you to pray for this school year.

Gerealdy:
  • You can pray that my class will be blessed with more love, patience, courage and understanding.
  • I also want you to pray for our health. Due to different issues that we usually encounter throughout the school year like political unrest and the pandemic, we want God to take control of all things to make this year go well for us.
