How has God shown up in your class?Photo of girls in preschool at Vieux-Caille
I had one of my students on the second day of class asked me to pray especially for him because he had difficulty remembering things he had learned in class. I was surprised by the faith he has in God.

What are some notable updates or activities that your class has been a part of recently? (i.e. holidays, celebrations, traditions)
Christmas - Carnival - Flag Day - Easter - Flag Day.

What was the occasion and why is it important to your culture?
When we celebrate Christmas, it helps our class to remember the birth of Christ and why he came to the world to save us from our sins. Carnival brings us joy, happiness, and pleasure to our students when we celebrate this holiday with them. Easter helps us to remember how God loves us by sending his only son to die for the sins of humanity. Flay Day (in May) helps us to remember the sacrifices our ancestors did so that we could live freely among other nations.

What is your favorite memory from this year so far? Something that made you laugh? Cry? Praise God?
My favorite memory for this year so far: I was amazed by one of my students who gladly shared his snack with one of his classmates who did not have one. I am blessed to see how they care about each other.

Coloring - Dancing - Crafts!

Is there a Bible verse that your class has been studying? Or maybe a verse that God has put on your heart during this season?
We have been studying the book of Genesis with our class. We chose this book because we want our students to know that God is the creator of all things. They used to ask who made the sun, moon and stars. Since we have started studying this book, they don’t ask these kinds of questions anymore.

Is there a student or parent that has stood out to you? How and why?
The first day of school is not always easy for us. Some of the children wanted to go home and were crying, but after getting along with other classmates they behave well.

What would you like to say to partners that are supporting the class and students?
We want to say thank you for giving these children the opportunity to go to school, with your support these children will learn great things that will help them progress in life. Thank you for participating in a good cause for the future of Haiti.

Prayer Request:

  • We would like you to pray for our students to have a good year of schooling. Since it is their first time coming to school and it is something new in their lives, we want God to bless them with good understanding so they can learn well and also for them to know that school is a good thing!
