Bringing smiles to Haiti

One of the most rewarding parts of our health care ministry is simply helping people feel better; it can change a person’s outlook on life! Through your donations, thousands of lives have been impacted in major ways, such as getting our hypertension patients a steady ongoing supply of their medications, helping diabetic patients comply to practices that can improve their blood glucose levels, helping pregnant mothers with their nutritional needs in preparation for caring for those precious little babies who are about to come into the world, and making sure people who need to be able to read get eye glasses. And the list goes on! Now, having Dr. Joshua Sanon on staff as a dentist has brought new smiles - literally! - to many people!



One of the things Dr. Josh does is make new dentures for people. Many are still very young adults who just need to have the ability to feel good about themselves and smile again. Over the years we’ve been able to bring those smiles back to dozens of people. Some of our readers know Pastor Rabrun; Joshua is his son! Years ago we were able to get Pastor Rabrun new front teeth. More recently we did the same for Esdras Avril, one of our translators, and for Wilkenson Fortune, an English speaking young man who grew up in our school. He is now able to show those pearly whites with lots of joy and gratitude in his heart.



Another great part about having Dr Josh on staff is that he spends part of his time in our schools. He educates the students about good dental hygiene and how to avoid the loss of teeth. In Haiti, most people think going to the dentist means having their teeth pulled. Josh is there to tell them differently, and they are learning!
