How Your Generosity Shapes Future Generations

Thanks to the generosity of Lifeline's community, many of our employees are former students from Lifeline’s Christian schools. They have seen God work in their lives since they were young!

Here are their short stories of faith, experiences, and learning.

Erda, who began her journey at Lifeline as a kid, has been one of our beloved teachers for 34 amazing years!

“As a child, I dreamed of being a teacher. My teachers were my mentors and role models. I looked up to them a lot. They worked hard to keep each and every student on track so that they would all succeed. My teachers’ love for their students made me want to do the same for my own students some day. Now, I’ve been teaching here for 34 years! Many of my former students now hold university diplomas and serve their country as nurses, doctors, teachers, and engineers. I love knowing I played a small role in their success! It’s always a joy to see those who visit me.”

Angel, a high school teacher, reflects on his journey of transformation and gratitude at Lifeline:

“Some time after my graduation, I was given the opportunity to teach. Thanks to this opportunity, I have been able to share the values that were once instilled in me and offer words of support to students who need it. I’ve been teaching here for over a year now, and I have accumulated many wonderful experiences and shared moments with excellent coworkers. I thank God and the ministry for allowing me to give back a little of everything they gave me when I needed it most.”

Karen shares her journey from being a student to working at Lifeline’s health clinic as a cashier:

“One day, a teacher told me about a job opening in the clinic’s cashier area. I sent in my resume, and the very next day, they were ready to hire me. Lifeline is special because it promotes the word of God and makes me feel at home. I always wanted to work in a Christian institution, and after my high school internship, I was even more certain. I prayed to the Lord for a job in a Christian place, and two days later, Lifeline was hiring me. God heard my prayers.”

Guillermo, Lifeline’s country director in Honduras, reflects on his journey of transformation:

“I lived with my grandma and ten cousins in extreme poverty, where joining a gang was a common path in our community. Everything changed when I enrolled in Lifeline’s Christian school in Honduras. Considering our extreme poverty, it’s only through God’s grace and help that I completed 9th grade. That was considered a huge success. In high school, I was mentored by a local Lifeline pastor. I found faith, was baptized, and pushed through my challenging circumstances with determination and hope. After graduating from high school and college, I returned to the school where I grew up to become a teacher and principal. Today, I lead Lifeline’s ministry in Honduras!”

Alejandra, an accounting assistant at Lifeline, shares her journey from student to staff member:

My time as a student was very nice. I learned a lot and had great teachers. My teachers gave me the opportunity to be in the English course thanks to my grades, and it was an experience that I will always carry with me. It is a skill that helps me in my day-to-day life. I joined the staff in 2022. What I enjoy most is being part of a mission that focuses on helping others and reminding them how great and wonderful God's love is. God has worked in me through Lifeline in many ways, but mainly by showing me that being here goes beyond a normal job; it is a service to the Lord and the community. I am grateful for the opportunities that were given to me while I was studying and for those that continue now that I work here. I thank God for placing me in this place and allowing me to work and serve in His mission.”
