"Let the little children come to me."

Written by Audra Norman, Lifeline’s Sponsorship Development Director

Lifeline's Christian schools in Honduras have taught hundreds of students over the years. This year, we are overjoyed to educate 7 students with special needs...

Meet Cesi!

Cesi is almost 12 years old and is the youngest of 5 children. She lives with her family in Ocotillo where her parents work very hard to provide for their children.

Cesi began her journey at our school because no other school would take her due to her special needs.

Three years ago, she had the opportunity to be part of our preschool for stimulation and to integrate her with the students. Her class embraced her, as well as the staff! Cesi's teachers say she is lovely, persistent, and hard working; she is able to achieve what she wants. She loves helping others, attending church, and worships God with all her heart!

The staff at our Ocotillo school has done a wonderful job giving Cesi an education and working with her family through many challenges. Her parents shared that they have seen significant improvements throughout her time at our school. Yet, at the same time, her mother also knows there is so much more Cesi is capable of.

We came to a point where our school in Honduras could not provide the services that Cesi so desperately needed to continue her educational growth. There are very few specialized schools for children with Down's Syndrome, and most of them are private and expensive. It was a cost that Cesi's family couldn't afford. Her mother was taking Cesi to a government rehabilitation center once a week, but this was not enough. We began to seek and pray for ways to help change Cesi's future. Our school administration worked hard to orchestrate the details for Cesi to attend a new school where she could thrive.

God moved and He provided...

Through circumstances that only God can orchestrate, Cesi is now sponsored by a family who is supporting her education at a specialized school. Cesi is currently in 2nd grade in the mornings at Ocotillo Christian School and in the afternoons she attends a school specialized for children with Down's Syndrome. We praise God that Cesi went from attending no school to now belonging to two schools!

Now meet Eneryc!

Eneryc is a smart, funny, and charming young man, and a living miracle...

Due to a premature birth at 24 weeks, he spent the first two months of his life in an incubator at the hospital. While in the hospital, he contracted a bacterial infection that prevented him from walking. Eneryc has been confined to a wheelchair most of his life and has endured many surgeries. His mother is his angel, watching over him and taking such wonderful care of him.

Today, Eneryc is in 4th grade and he likes school. His classmates love helping him move around in his wheelchair or playing with him at recess. Eneryc is loved by his classmates and teachers, as he has a smile for everyone!

He was provided an opportunity to have a surgery performed that could give him the possibility of walking. Because of our heavenly Father's provision, Eneryc's faithful sponsors and a gracious doctor in a Tegucigalpa clinic, the surgery was successfully performed and Eneryc is recovering beautifully. With rehabilitation, soon we hope to see Eneryc out of his wheelchair and walking! Through all of the difficulties, the family can testify to God's handiwork!

Jesus has Cesi and Eneryc in the palm of His hands. He loves them unconditionally!

We are blessed to have an incredible staff in Honduras who are leading wonderful schools, all while teaching each child that they are loved, valued, and adored by the King of Kings! The children leave each day knowing how precious they are to God and to each other. We are also blessed with incredible sponsors who go above and beyond when we share news like this, giving sacrificially to bless children like Cesi and Eneryc.

We thank God for how he is blessing these two precious children, and we thank all of you! Will you continue to pray for Cesi and Eneryc, as well as all of the children in our schools that God would do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine in their lives?

We are forever in awe of God's handiwork!

There are currently 3 children with special needs in our school in Honduras who do not have a sponsor. Is God tugging on your heart to love one of these little ones through sponsorship? For more information, please contact Audra at audra.norman@lifeline.org.
