Purity under pressure

Written by Karla Castro, Bible teacher and librarian at Lifeline’s School in Ocotillo, Honduras

As part of the spiritual activities in our schools in Honduras, we have the opportunity to host a camp for Middle and High School students. This year’s theme was Purity Under Pressure. The goal is for students to:

  • Meet God in a deeper way
  • Study God's Word
  • Focus on prayer
  • Learn Christian spiritual values
  • Have fun
  • Participate in activities
  • Improve relationships between students-teachers, students-students, and students-parents

Each camp has been great. We have seen students grow in their knowledge of the Bible and many have realized of the need of God in their lives. Several have accepted Christ as their Savior!

This year, we had the privilege of baptizing seven students: David Lopez, Ramon Garcia, Gabriela Rodas, Astrid Posas, Henry Lopez, Heber Izaguirre, and Angel Ponce (9th-11th grade students).

Some of the students accepted a challenge called the "Purity Code" where they made the commitment of honoring God with their bodies and renewing their minds with godly thoughts. Students were given a ring which will help them remember their commitment with God.

God was visibly at work through the student’s lives.

Camp Collage 3

Testimony of David Lopez, 11th grade:

“This 2018 camp, "Purity Under Pressure," was better than the others. I was able to feel God's love and the camp helped change my life completely. It helped me see things I was doing that were not right, it helped me stay in God's way. I understood that the things of this world are not good and I had to get away from them. The best experience I had was to accept Christ in my life and I was baptized.”

We are thankful for our school’s staff, church leaders, pastors, U.S. and Canada churches and friends, and many donors who prayed for this camp. God's purpose for each and every one of His children is unique. He wants our hearts, minds, souls, and bodies to be pure, and to live a life for Him.

Please keep praying for these young lives. Thank you for sharing His hope in Honduras.
