COME ALONGSIDE LOCAL LEADERS TO SERVE
City street in Guatemala

Overview

Guatemala is a picture of contrasts. Vast, mountainous terrain along with crowded city streets. A thriving, modern economy side by side with indigenous people groups who prefer a simpler way of life. Erupting volcanoes in plain view while tourists sip coffee at a local cafe. Tremendous natural resources and beauty together with the blight of poverty.

Ornate, ancient cathedrals that remain empty most of the year and yet holy week festivities that fill the streets with devoted participants fulfilling elaborate rituals. Such texture gives Guatemala both depth and complexity. It also makes ministry challenging and rewarding.

Number of team members

Trips consist of 5-15 people. We intentionally take smaller team sizes for a better overall trip experience for the goers as well as the receivers. This size allows the team to have a more personal experience as they interact with one another and with the community they are going to serve. A smaller team size also allows for deeper conversations and bonding experiences on the field. And this small size prevents the location we are visiting from being overwhelmed.

Trip length

The trip is 8 days and 7 nights, including travel days.

Documents needed

A passport (valid for at least six months after arrival date), online application, background check (provided by Lifeline), and a notarized parental consent form, if needed.

For general team trips, team members must be at least 12 years old. For family trips, the minimum age is 7 years old. Team members under age 18, traveling without a parent, must submit a notarized parental consent form and be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for the individual’s well-being.
